Hello to all Ghosties, Potential Ghosties, and the Mildly Curious,
You can call me the Geeky Ghost. My journey of self-discovery and exploration began in elementary school, where I found an outlet for my creativity in writing. I authored a book when I was a kid that was published by a teacher that resided in my old school library while it existed – a whimsical tale about a boy, a forgotten birthday, a wish, and an adventure in a land of dinosaurs. This and other endeavors of mine have been nurtured by those who saw potential in me, helping me to look beyond my struggles with Dyslexia and Dyscalculia among others.
In addition to writing, I've had a lifelong interest in the violin and chess. My father was my first teacher, and my grandfather, an ex naval intelligence officer I'm told, my second. Though neither were a fan of losing and our lessons quickly ended, they stoked my love for the game. This passion led me to play chess everywhere from parks in New York and Chicago to a zoo where I volunteered, learning and conversing with people from all walks of life.
Throughout high school, I continued to develop my skills in violin and chess, reaching milestones such as becoming a first chair violinist, captain of the chess team, and even reaching milestones in new brief interests such as being the youngest ROTC Battalion commander in the programs history at the time. They even sent me to officers training camp. Alas, I believe the joy of doing what I love should be preserved and that I must keep it from turning into a quest for achievement. It's important to value the things we love for their intrinsic worth and not allow them to be compromised by manipulative guidance.
Growing up, I found myself more comfortable connecting with adults than with peers, making me feel like an outsider among other kids. However, this didn't deter me from exploring my interests. My father's carpentry skills sparked a fascination in me, leading to a passion for woodworking and, eventually, sculpture. This interest merged wonderfully with my emerging passion for technology, leading me to the world of 3D modeling and animation.
While delving into technology in high school, I frequented the computer lab, gaining a reputation as a 'nerd' and 'geek.' This persona was often viewed with mixed opinions; some hailed me as brilliant, while others were less kind. Ultimately, I understood that we are all a mix of strengths and flaws. The key is to acknowledge our shortcomings and continue learning.
Recently, I've discovered another avenue of self-expression about a year or two ago: freehand illustrations. This new passion has added another layer to my multi-faceted personality. With a diverse interest and diverse skillsets in writing, poetry, music, games and logic, technology and software engineering, 3D modeling and animation, and illustrations, I plan on finding new and innovative ways to use AI for self expression and creativity. I use AI as a tool to help me navigate and express these varied interests of mine, learning and overcoming challenges along the way and try to share things of significance I find with others.
This is me, the Geeky Ghost, and I am excited to share my journey with you all.
